These plaques are made from solid brass to a polished finish, manufactured using the age old traditional method of sand casting in Madeley, Telford within close proximity to the Power Station itself.

Description

Commemorate 90 years of the Ironbridge Power station with this unique piece of memorabilia. The cooling towers at the power station were an iconic part of Ironbridge for many people until their demolition this year.

Construction of the first Ironbridge Power Station (later to becomeknown as Ironbridge A Power Station) began in 1929, and the first phasewas completed in 1932. The station officially opened on 13 October1932. The full generating capacity of Ironbridge A was not realised untilmajor expansions and the commissioning of extra boilers and generatingsets had been completed in 1939.
